Are you looking for a wonderful apple cake recipe? I was going to post my mom’s, but it turns out that smitten kitchen and I have the same mom. Or at least the same recipe. Her write-up is a lot better than mine would be. I mean, just look at it:
It’s not burnt at all. So, just go there. Here‘s the link. We don’t use walnuts, and we slice our apples, not chunk them, but who am I to quibble with smitten kitchen? This cake is unbelievable.
I just took out our family recipe for Apple Cake in anticipation of baking it Thursday night and had to check. Yes, it is the EXACT same recipe!!
It’s also posted on ModernJewishMom. Apparently, this recipe really made the rounds 40-50 years ago.
it looks really delish.
Oooh, I love SK. And this recipe looks great, I’m going to try it this week!
Hi Amy,
I am spreading the gospel of your easiest-ever-noodle kugel. I added some dried cherries and took it to a Shabbat dinner and people thought it was the best kugel they’d ever eaten!
Hope you are doing well with the new job and such. Shanna Tova.
