My four year old, Zoe, invented these bite-size hamentashen in our marathon baking session with bubbe. Aren’t they adorable?
That’s a nickel in the middle, for perspective. With all the 100 calorie packaged snacks on the market, I think we could be on to something here. (We used this recipe, of course.)
Could these be any cuter?

super cute
Thank you so much for re-posting the amazing hamentashen recipe! I make them every year, and these were by far the best, with the best consistency for my kids to make them hamentashen.
I will post photos and send you the link; my daughter ALSO made “bite size ones”, and I used my ring for perspective instead. (Before seeing this post!)
I would like to link to your amazing recipe.
As for baking with a houseful of kids, I learned one important lesson this year; I tried to get everyone to take turns helping with the first batch. Second batch, I rolled 5 balls of dough and let each person choose one and make the hamentashen from it beginning to end. Aaaaah…. peace again. : )
Also got a pic of 5 out of the seven in aprons made by Savta; priceless.
Thanks again!
feel free to post the link. i’m glad you enjoyed them!
Very cute. I tried the hamantaschen recipe last night and they came out a little tough, even though I handled them minimally and rolled them fairly thin. They may be better after sitting for a day or two, though -the toddler had one this morning and was in heaven.
Yeah, you heard me, I gave a 3-year-old a cookie for breakfast. (Part of the wonder of Purim)
The orange/chocolate hamantaschen from Jewish Holiday Style didn’t freeze well – they were AWESOME when fresh (yes, 2 sticks of butter will do that) but defrosted a bit pie-doughy. Very short.
Clearly, more baking is in order. To the kitchen, hamantaschen makers!
I’m with Tzipporah!! My kids never get to eat cookies for breakfast…except as we wind our way to Purim. Makes for great memories!!!
Trying to determine if I am going to have enough energy to tackle abother batch tonight when I get home from shul…
I let the girls eat hamentashen for breakfast too…..
Now we not only have Amy Meltzer’s kugel in our repetoire, but we also have Amy Meltzer’s mother/grandmother’s hamentashen. I hadn’t found a recipe I liked, and this one worked wonderfully. It’s more crunchy and cookie-like than I’ve usually had – and I loved it! I did seedless raspberry preserves with mini choco-chips as one filling, and lemon curd as another, but I’m going to try your prune next year when I plan more than two minutes ahead. Thanks!
